Al-Irshād Maktab – Behaviour Guidelines

Creating a Calm, Respectful Learning Environment

At Al-Irshād Maktab, we believe that good behaviour is an essential part of a child’s Islamic upbringing. Our approach is based on tarbiyah (nurturing), adab (good manners), and mutual respect.

These guidelines are shared publicly to help families understand the general learning environment of the maktab.

🌱 Our Behavioural Approach

We aim to create an atmosphere that is:

  • Calm and focused
  • Respectful and disciplined
  • Encouraging and nurturing
  • Safe and appropriate for children
Note: Discipline is approached as a means of guidance, not punishment.

šŸ§’ Behaviour Expectations for Students

Students are encouraged to:

  • Treat teachers and fellow students with respect
  • Listen attentively during lessons
  • Follow classroom instructions
  • Speak politely and appropriately
  • Care for the Qur’an and learning materials

Children are guided patiently to develop:

  • Self-control
  • Respect for elders
  • Good Islamic manners
  • Responsibility and consistency

🚫 Behaviour Not Encouraged

The maktab does not tolerate behaviour that disrupts learning or affects others, including:

  • Bullying or teasing
  • Physical aggression
  • Inappropriate language
  • Persistent disruption during class
  • Disrespect toward teachers or students

Such behaviour is addressed calmly and appropriately.

🧠 How Behaviour Is Addressed

Behaviour concerns are handled through:

  • Gentle reminders
  • Clear guidance and explanation
  • Encouragement toward improvement
  • Involvement of parents where necessary
Our focus is always on correction and growth — not embarrassment or harshness.

šŸ›” Safety & Care

Al-Irshād Maktab is committed to:

  • Maintaining a respectful and supervised learning environment
  • Ensuring appropriate interaction between students and teachers
  • Providing a space where children feel safe and valued

Further safety and behaviour details are shared with families after enrolment.

šŸ‘Øā€šŸ‘©ā€šŸ‘¦ Partnership with Parents

We believe positive behaviour is best supported when home and maktab work together.

Parents are encouraged to:

  • Reinforce good manners at home
  • Support regular attendance and punctuality
  • Communicate respectfully with staff
Note: Clear expectations and guidance are provided to enrolled families.

ā€œGood character is not taught through harshness, but through patience, consistency, and example.ā€

For families who enrol, a more detailed Behaviour & Child Safety Policy is shared privately to ensure clarity and cooperation.
