Founder & Director of Darul Irshad
Early Life & Background
Muftī Ḥamzah ʿImrān Khān was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. His parents, of Pathan lineage, hail from Peshawar, Pakistan and migrated to Australia in the early 1990s. He was raised in a deeply religious and scholarly environment in which scholars, students of knowledge, and people of piety were frequent visitors to his home and locality.
From an early age, he was exposed to regular discussions on the Sīrah of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, the lives of the Anbiyāʾ ʿalayhim al-salām, and the Ṣaḥābah raḍiyAllāhu ʿanhum. This atmosphere had a profound impact on his intellectual and spiritual development and became the catalyst for his lifelong pursuit of the Sacred Sciences.
During the era when Qurʾānic recitation was commonly accessed through cassette recordings, he devoted himself to listening repeatedly to the recitations of Shaykh ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sudays and Shaykh Suʿūd al-Shuraym. Through consistent listening alone, he had memorised nearly the last two ajzāʾ of the Qurʾān by the age of five.
