Darul Irshad was not born as an idea on paper.
It was born from restlessness.
When Mufti Humza Imran Khan completed his religious and secular studies, he stepped into a world very different from the one his teachers had prepared him for — a world shaped by rapid technology, distracted youth, fractured communities, and Muslims increasingly distant from the masājid and from Islamic learning.
He prayed in his local masjid.
He taught in his local madrasah.
He served where he could.
Yet, despite the sincerity of these efforts, something always felt incomplete.
The limitations of isolated environments — small maktabs, disconnected da‘wah circles, debate-driven platforms, or spirituality detached from knowledge — left a lingering question:
How does Islam reach an Ummah this diverse, this fragmented, and this overwhelmed?
In his surroundings, he observed many sincere efforts:
- Some calling to Islam through traditional madrasahs and maktabs
- Some focused on da‘wah to Muslims, others to non-Muslims
- Some immersed in debate and argumentation
- Others devoted purely to dhikr, du‘ā’, and spiritual circles
Each effort carried truth — yet none, on its own, felt complete.
Over time, with reflection and the guidance of his teachers, clarity emerged:
The revival of the Ummah cannot happen through a single front.
Islam must be carried forward through knowledge, spirituality, mentorship, da‘wah, and community — together.
From this understanding, Darul Irshad was established in 2022.
The Aim of Darul Irshad
Darul Irshad was founded to be a seminary and community centre that brings together what has long been fragmented.
Its aim is:
- To teach Islam as a living tradition, not isolated subjects
- To nurture students of knowledge, university students, youth, and the wider community
- To reconnect ʿilm (knowledge) with tazkiyah (inner refinement)
- To provide structured learning for those who seek depth, and accessible guidance for those taking their first steps
Darul Irshad does not seek to replace existing efforts — but to bridge them.
What Darul Irshad Is Today
Based in Melbourne, Australia, Darul Irshad functions as:
- An Islamic seminary
- A community-based Islamic organisation
- A place of learning, mentorship, and spiritual grounding
While rooted locally, its vision and reach are global — seeking to serve an Ummah living across cultures, continents, and challenges.
Looking Ahead
Darul Irshad is still young.
But its direction is clear.
By the permission of Allah, it aims to grow into a comprehensive Islamic hub — one that produces grounded scholars, thoughtful leaders, and spiritually anchored Muslims who can navigate the modern world without losing their faith, tradition, or purpose.
